Pre-Roman Stone Walls in Italy

Impeccably engineered stone retaining walls

Italy is home to many gigantic stone walls that predate the Roman civilization. Modern history knows nothing about the builders. The Mycenaean's built similar limestone structures during the 2nd millennium BC in Greece.

We found the above photograph of massive, impeccably engineered stone retaining walls in a catalogue of "megalithic" stonework. The caption says it's located in Assini, Italy.
